Hanover police say they have charged six people with impaired driving in the past month.
They say the festive RIDE campaign is underway and alongside other police services, they are working to ensure drivers are traveling sober during the holiday season.
Police say, in the most recent impaired driving arrest Monday night, officers responded to a report of a man in a parking lot who was reportedly slumped over the wheel of his idling car.
Police say their investigation determined the driver was impaired by drugs and in possession of meth, fentanyl and hydromorphone pills. The 42-year-old man from Ingersoll was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, driving while prohibited and possession of a controlled substance.
Police say over the past 30 days, they’ve arrested and charged six drivers with impaired driving, driving 80 plus, breach of
probation, driving while prohibited, possession of controlled substances and more.
Police have charged the following people:
1. A 35-year-old woman from Walkerton
2. A 32-year-old man from Lefroy
3. A 52-year-old man from Hanover
4. A 27-year-old man from Hanover
5. A 30-year-old man from Hanover
6. A 42-year-old man from Ingersoll
Police say, “Innocent people needlessly lose their lives or suffer injuries that are often life altering at the hands of impaired drivers. Please be responsible, have a sober driver because everyone is counting on you.”
