Early stages of revitalization plans for downtown Goderich begin this week.
Town hall officials are hosting four days of consultations beginning Tuesday, for the public to provide feedback on plans to update downtown’s infrastructure.
Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet says experts will be on hand to receive feedback.
“The landscape architects will be there… there will be an opportunity for people to write their ideas down and share them,” Bazinet tells Country 104.9 News.
At the end of the consultation period, the Mayor says residents and local business owners will leave with a visual concept of the plans.
“They’re going to create a concept design throughout those four days, and on the final day, they’re going to have something to show people. It won’t be the final product, but it will be somewhat of a visual of what we’ve discussed.”
Goderich Town Council has approved a plan to complete the bulk of infrastructure construction in 2025 and 2026, with final details completed in time for the Town’s Bicentennial in 2027.
Bazinet says some big changes could be coming to Goderich’s downtown.
“Maybe we need to have a line to separate the lanes, so people will stay in their own lane, which seems odd to me, because I’m born and raised here.”
