Huron County will continue with an agreement that helps offset the cost of electricity for low income families.
County Council has moved to renew the Ontario Electricity Support Program Intake Agency Cost Recovery Agreement.
Cheryl Patience, who is the Manager of Ontario Works and Children’s Services presented the option to council, which was approved at the November 1st meeting.
The OESP is a program from the Ontario Energy Board that lowers electricity bills for lower-income households, which provides credits to customers based on household income and size.
The program helps many Huron County residents to be able to afford their utility bills, and the county has been part of the program since 2015.
