When the Ontario University Women’s Field Lacrosse Championship is played in Kingston October 27th-29th, there’s a good chance former Owen Sound North Stars will have a say in the outcome.
As the 2023 season comes to a close, nine North Stars play prominent roles on six of the competing teams.
The top-rated team from the Western Division is the Western Mustangs featuring Reese Wilkins and Jamie Carr, while the number one seed from the Eastern Division is the Queen’s Golden Gaels with Kennedy Coughlin, Kenna McKee, and Tara Meikle. The two undefeated teams faced-off for the only time on the last weekend of the regular season with Queen’s scoring a 14-10 victory.
Other North Stars looking for gold on the weekend include first year players Maddy Linklater with the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks and Cameryn Gateman of the Trent Excalibur, while 4th year seniors Kirsten Sutter and Rachel Wood are playing with the Guelph Gryphons and Brock Badgers respectively.
The nine-team tournament gets started on Friday with pool play games leading into the gold and bronze medal games on Sunday.
