Hanover Police are looking for tips after a car chase and gun shots followed a home invasion earlier this month.
Town Police say they received a report a couple of days ago about a “home invasion robbery” that happened on Sunday, Oct. 15.
Three masked men armed with a gun apparently entered on home in the 400 block of 11th Street in the southern Grey County town around 9:30 p.m. that day.
According to police, the masked men stole several items while they held the home’s occupants at gun-point. The assailants then fled in a white sport utility vehicle driven by a fourth suspect.
Police say one of the victims then chased after the suspects. And during that southbound pursuit on 18th Avenue near John Diefenbaker Secondary School, the suspects fired gun shots “at the victim’s vehicle to aid in their escape.”
No one was hurt.
Hanover Police say they believe the suspects targeted the residence and victims.
“This firearm robbery is alarming for our community and the entire Grey Bruce region,” Hanover Police say in a release. “Gun crimes are a significant public safety concern across Canada and although not common place, small rural communities are not immune to such violence.”
Anyone with video footage or information that could help the investigation is being asked to contact Hanover Police or Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce.
