Bruce County Council has approved financial support over a five-year period for the Brightshores Health System Wellness & Recovery Centre project.
Council approved the $500,000 commitment for the project, which will be given from 2024 to 2028.
The Brightshores Health System’s Wellness & Recovery Centre is located on 6th Street A East in Owen Sound and is regarded as the first of its kind in both the region and in Canada.
It will provide treatment while focusing on harm reduction, and provide a safe environment for those in need of support and management of their substance abuse.
Bruce County Warden Chris Peabody says that the partnership between the county and Brightshores is an opportunity to support the needs of people that live in the region, and to address service shortage issues.
