Saugeen Shores police have charged a man after a reported assault on a trail in Port Elgin.
Police say, on Thursday, October 12th at approximately 6:50 p.m. they responded to a report of an assault that had just occurred on a community trail near Trillium Drive.
According to police, the adult female victim was walking alone on the trail when she was confronted and assaulted by a male who is not known to her.
Police say a struggle followed and the victim broke free and ran to a nearby street and called police.
Officers quickly attended the area, located suspect nearby and arrested him.
A 25 year old Port Elgin man has been charged with, sexual assault and criminal harassment – watch and beset.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and released by the court on October 13th. Police did not release the suspect’s name.
