The Owen Sound Attack have sorted out their overage player situation.
The Attack traded 20-year-old forward Kaleb Lawrence to the Ottawa 67’s in exchange for an eighth-round draft pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, the team announced Tuesday.
The 6-foot-7, 229-pound Los Angeles Kings prospect was one of four overage players on the Attack roster. League rules only allow teams to dress a maximum of three. He was the odd man out for the first two games of the season, as the Attack opted to feature Deni Goure, Ethan Burroughs and Sam Sedley.
Lawrence appeared in 91 games over parts of three seasons for the Attack, recording 21 goals and 24 assists. He dressed in 50 games during the 2022-23 season, after missing nearly all of the 2021-22 campaign with a shoulder injury.
He will now get to play for his hometown OHL team. Lawrence is from Orleans, a community in Ottawa.
