The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual following a drug investigation.
In the spring of 2023, the Huronia West Community Street Crime Unit initiated an investigation for drug trafficking. Soon after the investigation, the Huronia West Crime Unit began an investigation involving the same individual.
As a result, a search warrant was sought for a residence in the Collingwood area. On September 12, 2023, the following OPP units executed the search warrant as part of this joint investigation. The Huronia West CSCU, Huronia West Crime Unit, Collingwood CSCU, Southern Georgian Bay CSCU, Huntsville CSCU, Caledon CSCU, Nottawasaga CSCU, Huronia West and Collingwood Uniform Officers.
A 34-year-old from Collingwood, has been charged with:
· Use of a Firearm in the Commission of an Indictable Offence
· Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
· Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
· Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x 4
· Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
· Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
· Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – MDMA
As a result of the investigation, the following property was seized:
· Smith and Wesson M&P – 45 Caliber loaded firearm
· Firearm ammunition
· Crossman BB pellet gun .177 Caliber
· 10.4 grams of suspected blue fentanyl
· 12 pills suspected to be MDMA
· 5.4 grams of suspected cocaine
· Mini crossbow
· Multiple cellphones
· Drug Paraphernalia
The accused was held pending a bail hearing and has been remanded in custody until the next court date.
