A legislative committee is going to review the future of upper tier governments in Simcoe County and other parts of southern Ontario.
The new minister of municipal affairs, Paul Calandra, is scrapping plans from his predecessor to hire facilitators to make the assessment.
Calandra says the committee will carry out the work in a “public, open and accountable” manner.
The province decided in the spring to break up Peel Region.
It also announced a review of upper tier governments in Durham, Halton, Waterloo, York and Niagara and Simcoe County.
