The County of Huron was able to come out of 2022 with some money in the bank.
County Treasurer and Director of Corporate Services Michael Blumhagen shared a report with council, saying that there was money left over to put into reserves.
During the County Council meeting on August 16th, the Year End Financial Review for 2022 showed a surplus of $2,728,247.
That unallocated surplus is being put into the General Reserve for Contingency now that council has received the report for future levy stabilization.
Overall, the county had a surplus of around $7.1, which is far more than the 2023 budget estimate of $795,965.
