The Women’s Centre Grey Bruce is hoping to raise $150,000 for renovations to its new Youth House.
The Youth House is a part of their Anti-Human Trafficking Program for Youth and is aimed at helping youth who are at risk of or have previously been human trafficked.
The home is looking to help those who were affected get access to resources, such as trained professionals, have opportunities to learn life skills, and to achieve a sustainable future away from abuse.
Their Adopt-A-Room program is calling on the community to help contribute to the renovations, which are now underway.
Once the work is complete, they’re hoping to have the space renovated and have eight youths moved in for this winter.
Anyone interested in donating can contact donations@thewomenscentre.org.
There is also a furniture registry so that anyone can contribute regardless of financial situation.
TWC says that human trafficking is an under-reported issue that is recognized as one of the fastest-growing crimes in the world.
