Saugeen Shores police have arrested a Walkerton man after a dangerous driving incident ended in a gravel pit.
Police say on Thursday, July 13th at 8:46 a.m. officers on day shift observed a vehicle travelling at an extremely high speed on Bruce Road 3.
Police say radar was activated and indicated the vehicle was traveling at a speed of 170km/hr in a 80 km zone.
Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but say the vehicle accelerated away from police and swerved to pass several north bound vehicles on the gravel shoulder while continuing north in a dangerous manner.
Police set up a road block on Concession 10 / Hwy 21 at which point the vehicle did a Uturn and entered into a one way gravel pit.
The vehicle came to a stop and a 23-year-old male of Walkerton, who police did not name, was arrested without further incident.
His vehicle was impounded and he has been charged with stunt driving, driving while under suspension, dangerous operation and flight from a peace officer.
