Kincardine is trying to make sure everyone can enjoy summer activities by removing barriers to accessibility.
The municipality is adding Mobi-Mats and a beach wheelchair to make the lakeside more accessible.
Mobi-Mats are rollouts mats that make it so people with mobility issues, including those who use wheelchairs and walkers, are able to go out onto the beach without having to deal with the sand.
The mats are available at both Station Beach and Macpherson Beach.
The municipality’s beach wheelchair, which was provided by a sponsorship from the Rotary Club, can be used on sand and also go into the water.
The beach wheelchair can be reserved by contacting the Welcome Centre at 519-396-2731.
