Work will get underway soon on a $29-million upgrade and expansion to Thornbury’s wastewater treatment plant.
The expansion is needed to accommodate growth and to replace equipment that is nearing the end of its life cycle.
The Grey Street plant was built in 1994 and can handle about 3,500 cubic meters of waste per day.
The expansion will boost that capacity to about 5,300 cubic meters.
The tender has been awarded to North America Construction..and the work will take about three years to complete.
