Goderich Council was able to hear an update from BMROSS regarding the allocation of water and wastewater capacity.
Senior Engineer Bruce Potter explained that according to the report, “I’m not suggesting that we tell developers that we’re full up. But if we do start to see these things actually occur — we’ve got a bunch of apartment buildings that are approved… so I think we’re very comfortable bringing some more water supply online and that’s the intent of the current proposal.”
Based on the report, with the current number of building proposals, capacity will need to be expanded to compensate for a potential increased demand.
Potter explained that although it’s unlikely that all of the current proposed building projects will actually be built, but the moves should still be made sooner in order to be able to handle the demand of future development.
