Meaford is going to start replacing playground surfaces at local parks next week.
The municipality says starting June 19, it will start replacing the existing pea gravel playground surfaces at Peter Cameron Park and Bognor Community Park with engineered wood fiber.
“During the municipality’s annual playground inspection in 2022, third party inspectors identified pea gravel as being no longer recognized as a safe grounding material for playgrounds, and recommended that the municipality replace existing pea gravel surfaces with engineered wood fiber,” says the municipality.
While the replacement is ongoing, the playground area at the parks will be inaccessible.
The work will take about one week, with a planned completion date for June 23.
