South Bruce Peninsula Fire has not determined the cause of a house fire in Sauble Beach over the weekend which resulted in an injured firefighter.
Fire Chief Tim Wilson says they responded to the fire along Eldridge Avenue on Saturday just shortly before 11 a.m.
He says they arrived to a working fire, which hadn’t consumed all the rooms, but had extensions throughout the building.
Wilson says the home is a total loss and there is no damage cost estimate at this time.
He adds the injured firefighter was treated on scene.
The South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department received assistance from the Inter Township Fire Department and the Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department.
The owners of the home, who were not injured, were on the scene, and Wilson credits the use of alarms.
“Early notification of working smoke alarms allowed these residents to escape in a timely manner,” says Wilson.
Fire crews cleared the scene around 8 p.m.
