Georgian Bluffs council has signed off on the township’s 2023 budget.
It includes a combined tax increase of three per cent. That will cost the owner of an average assessed home just over $8 a month more on the property tax bill.
Georgian Bluffs’ 2023 budget includes a $7.2-million capital plan. Improvements to Sarawak Family Park and Kilsyth Playground are among the investments being made this year, as well as the installation of a new electric vehicle charging station in the township.
One of the major infrastructure projects in this year’s budget is the $3.25-million reconstruction of Elm Street. The project is being completed jointly with the Town of South Bruce Peninsula, as Elm Street is a boundary road.
The township has also earmarked $1-million for road surface treatment, crack sealing and repairs.
“The 2023 budget reflects council’s commitment to investing in public spaces and core infrastructure projects that benefit all residents,” says Mayor Sue Carleton in a statement. “We are committed to working with our neighbours in the surrounding municipalities and partnering with other levels of government at the county, provincial and federal level to use funding opportunities that allow us to leverage our tax dollars.”
