With the help of a Goderich business, a Hollywood blockbuster is opening across North America.
“Blackberry” hits the silver screen Friday, which tells the Canadian story of the rise and fall of the world’s first smartphone maker.
The film was edited by staff at FauxPop Media in Goderich, who has worked on numerous acclaimed films, including “Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “Power of Grayskull: The Definitive History of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.”
While the film opens Friday, a special screening will be held Monday in Goderich, featuring Writer/Director Matt Johnson, Editor Curt Lobb, and Post Production Supervisor Mark Hussey.
Hussey tells Country 104.9 News the staff who worked on Blackberry have a special connection to the town.
“Matt Johnson… was living here in Goderich for most of the editing process and really loved the town,” Hussey says.
“We all just thought what a great opportunity to let people know some cool things happening in Huron County.”
Hussey says a question-and-answer session will follow Monday evening’s screening of Blackberry.
“Matt Johnson, Curt Lobb, and myself will be there, and Rob McAuley from the theatre will be moderating,” Hussey tells Country 104.9 News.
“The audience will be able to ask questions, and we’ll talk about what it’s like to make a movie, or answer any questions we can.”
Blackberry opens Friday at Goderich’s Park Theatre, while the special screening takes place Monday, May 15th, beginning at 7:15 p.m..
