The local Board of Health heard Grey Bruce Public Health’s goals for 2023.
Andrew Barton, Senior Public Health Manager says that after two years of focusing on emergency response because of the COVID-19 pandemic, they’re working to re-establish regular workgroup meetings.
“As we come out of that this year, we need to phase back to that sort of pre-pandemic, or some people call it an interpandemic period.”
They’re also going to be assessing their Emergency Response Plan, and conducting their annual Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment review.
He says that “During that period from [2020-22], the focus of the organization was really on emergency response. We were dealing with the pandemic.”
Barton adds that the Board of Health has requirements to effectively prepare for emergencies.
That ensures the organization is prepared to respond in a timely manner across the health unit.
