Hanover Police say charges are pending after an ATV struck a pedestrian.
Police Chief Christopher Knoll says on Twitter, on April 20th at 4:30 p.m., Hanover police, firefighters and Grey County Paramedics responded to a collision involving an ATV that had struck a pedestrian in the parking lot of a gas station.
Knoll says it was determined the ATV pulled into the lot, lost control and struck a woman who was putting air in her vehicle’s tires.
The pedestrian, a woman from Carrick Township in South Bruce was run over and pinned against her vehicle resulting in serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The ATV driver, a 69-year-old West Grey resident was arrested at the scene and later released pending further investigation.
Knoll says the pedestrian and the ATV driver were not known to each other.
He says alcohol was not a factor.
Police are reviewing surveillance videos and are requesting any other witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward and speak to investigators.
Knoll says, “As a reminder, ATVs are NOT permitted to be operated on Town of Hanover roadways under any circumstances.”
