Huron County will be showing its pride for the first time on June 10th.
That is the date for the county’s first ever Pride Festival in Goderich, organized by Huron County Pride.
The Town of Goderich approved the festival last August, the same evening council approved a rainbow crosswalk on Courthouse Square at the entrance to West Street.
Fundraising for the Pride Festival took place in October, when Huron County Pride hosted a Drag BINGO show.
Huron County Pride was founded in the summer of 2022, with officials looking to meet the needs of the under-represented LGBTQ+ community along Ontario’s West Coast.
It is the third iteration of an LGBTQ+ organization for the county, after its predecessors PFLAG Goderich and Huron PRIDE dissolved.
