South Bruce OPP are advising caution following 15 collisions with deer.
Police say they responded to a number of collisions between April 3 and April 17, but no injuries were reported.
In response, police are sharing tips to avoid crashing into the animal.
These include being attentive from sunset to midnight and during the hours shortly before and after sunrise, as these are the highest risk times for deer collisions.
It is also recommended driving with caution when moving through areas with a known deer population, and remember, deer seldom run alone. If you see one deer, chances are others might be nearby.
For those driving at night, make sure to use your high-beam headlights when there is no oncoming traffic, as the lights will better illuminate the eyes of deer on or near the road.
If you see a deer on the road, blow your horn with one long blast to frighten them away, and break firmly while staying in your lane. Police say many serious crashes occur when drivers swerve to avoid hitting a deer and crash into another vehicle.
Always wear your seatbelt, and do not rely on devices like deer whistles, deer fences, and reflectors.
