Orillia OPP were called to two separate incidents which led to multiple schools being placed on hold and secure.
At around 10 o’clock yesterday morning, officers responded to a mental health call in the area of Barrie Road and it was believed the person involved posed a risk to public safety.
As a result, Harriet Todd Elementary School and Twin Lakes High School were placed on hold and secure.
The person was found not on school property and was then taken to the hospital.
Later, just after 1:30 that afternoon, a local business owner reported seeing a youth with a possible firearm in the area of West Street North and Fittons Road, which caused Patrick Fogerty High School and Mon Signor Lee Catholic Elementary School to both be placed on hold and secure.
OPP officers held an investigation, and no credible threats were identified.
As part of the investigation officers determined no threat to public safety existed and the Hold and Secures have been released.
