South Bruce Peninsula council has awarded some tenders for road work this year.
Council is awarding about $8 million to MacDonnell Excavating Ltd. for the Reconstruction, including the underground infrastructure of Elm Street from Berford Street to Thompson Sideroad in Wiarton. A staff report to council says, since Elm Street is a boundary road, the project is being done jointly with the Township of Georgian Bluffs with each municipality contributing funding for the road, storm and water portions. The project is scheduled to begin this month.
Council is also awarding a roughly $710,000 contract to Harold Sutherland Construction Ltd. operating as Walker Construction Grey-Bruce for the reconstruction of Silver Lake Road.
The work will be done on 4.2 kms of the road from Bruce Road 10 to Allenford Road. It will include the replacement of three culverts, and reconstruction of the road and its surface. It will also include a bit of waterproofing work to extend the life of Gate’s Bridge. Staff say the project’s earliest start date would be in May with a final completion date at the end of June.
