Grey Bruce OPP have shared more details about the incident that prompted a lockdown at Grey Highlands Secondary School in Flesherton this morning.
Police say they were called to the school around 10:15 a.m. to respond to an injury.
“It was reported that a student had been stabbed and required medical attention,” Grey Bruce OPP say in a release.
An OPP spokesperson says the incident took place in a washroom.
The injured student was taken to a local hospital with wounds police describe as non-life threatening.
Two students were taken into custody.
OPP say the investigation is ongoing. The incident is considered isolated.
Sources told Bayshore Broadcasting News the lockdown was initiated this morning and a letter sent by the Bluewater District School Board to parents says it is the result of a “student incident that has been dealt with.”
It was lifted just prior to noon.
The board letter sent out this morning says additional details can’t be shared as “this is a police investigation.”
Bluewater District School Board Communications Officer Jamie Pettit: “I am not in a position to comment on the reason for the lockdown at this point. Students and staff are safe.”
