Huron County council received an update on the Huron Clean Water Project.
The project launched in 2004, and is a voluntary program to provide grant funding and technical assistance for farmers, non-farm rural, and urban landowners.
The funding given is provided by the County of Huron, as well as Conservation Authorities and other agencies.
The top three categories where grant money was approved were cover crops, tree planting, and erosion control.
There were also forest management projects that were approved.
2022 Statistics:
- Reviewed 240 new applications
- 226 were approved
- $330,526 in grants approved
- Total value of projects approved was $1,355,819; greater than 4:1 match of county funding
