A Grey County family is hosting a fundraising skate in Ayton Monday night for the Children’s Health Foundation.
Mother Rebecca Brodrecht says her children 9-year-old Köni and 5-year-old Adä were born at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) where they have received care.
“Köni was born at LHSC and has had ongoing care there. Köni was born with Hydronephrosis and has had two surgeries for this at LHSC. He also has had many other doctors at the hospital and is expecting to have surgery for his sever sleep apnea soon. He is also developmentally delayed and uses service provided by Thames Valley Children’s Centre (TVCC). Adä was born at LHSC and has recently been having some health issues and now sees the same Urologist Köni has for the past nine years,” says Rebecca.
Rebecca says they will be having the skating fundraiser at the Ayton Arena on Feb. 20 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., where donations will be collected upon entry as the children will be handing out treats.
She adds they have been receiving great community support in helping reach their goal of $1,000.
“I believe they are already almost at $800, so I think we are definitely going to surpass that and up our goal, and I think we are going to go with a goal of $2,000,” says Rebecca.
The Children’s Health Foundation’s own Dr. Beary Goode will also be making an appearance at the fundraiser, handing out stickers, balloons and tattoos.
