The Barrie Police Polar Plunge is three weeks away. The event is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics, and is scheduled for March 4 at Centennial Beach. Members of the Barrie Police service and their supporters will be taking the icy plunge including Chief Rich Johnston. The event was put on hold for the last couple of years due to the pandemic, but the 2020 version had about 70 people jump into the icy water.
So far this year, plungers have raised more than $5000 in pledges towards a goal of $20,000.
