Members of the joint Crime Units of the Collingwood and Huronia West Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in an attempted murder investigation in Wasaga Beach.
On February 2nd at 10:00 p.m., Huronia West OPP responded to an address on River Road East in Wasaga Beach and located a male suffering with life-threatening injuries.
The victim was transported to a Toronto trauma centre and has since recovered.
On February 8th, as a result of the investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), one person was arrested with the assistance of the Toronto Police Service.
Kailend Coote, 20 years of age of Toronto, has been charged with the following offenses contrary to the Criminal Code:
· Attempted Murder
· Forcible Confinement – two counts
· Break and Enter
· Weapons Dangerous
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on February 9th, 2023.
