Premier Doug Ford’s mother-in-law has COVID-19.
Ford choked up while talking about the situation in long-term care homes yesterday, agreeing the system is broken and vowing to fix it.
However, he said the priority right now is protecting residents and staff from the virus.
Ford’s office later confirmed that his wife Karla’s 95-year-old mother, who lives in a retirement home, has tested positive for covid 19.
More than 500 people have died of COVID-19 in senior’s facilities across the province.
Within 48 hours of announcing our plan to protect Ontario’s vulnerable we have conducted thousands of tests, delivered thousands of pieces of PPE, and put expert boots on the ground. We have literally called in the troops and we’re doing everything we can to keep Ontario safe. pic.twitter.com/0wpHJptBtM
