A small team from the Municipality of Kincardine attended this week’s Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference in Toronto to talk about local issues.
Mayor Kenneth Craig, Councillor Doug Kennedy, and Chief Administrative Officer Jillene Bellchamber-Glazier attended.
Craig says the conference is an opportunity to advocate directly to provincial leaders and connect with other municipalities.
“We can address rural health care issues, demonstrate support for the nuclear sector, and promote our area for development opportunities. These are foundational steps for our municipality,” says Craig.
A release from the municipality says multiple delegations booked over the three-day period are set to discuss activities that aim to address the goals cited by Craig.
CAO Bellchamber-Glazier says, “ROMA is one of the premier events for rural municipal leaders to attend,” comments “We have the opportunity to network with our peers, hear how they are tackling issues similar to our own, and connect with provincial leaders.”
A branch of the Association of Municipalities Ontario (AMO), the ROMA conference is annual event with focus upon rural municipal issues. Numerous local municipalities attended the conference as well as Huron-Bruce MPP & Agriculture Minister Lisa Thompson and Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers.
ROMA wraps up this afternoon.
