Huron Perth Public Health says cases of COVID-19 remain steady in the two counties.
In a news release, the agency says respiratory viruses including COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are still circulating and are causing severe illness in some individuals.
HPPH says lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region are persisting.
As of January 11, 2023 there were two active outbreaks and five people in hospital due to COVID-19, HPPH says.
From September 4 to December 31, 2022, there were 121 lab confirmed cases of influenza, nine hospitalizations, one death and one outbreak.
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Miriam Klassen, recommends continuing to wear face coverings to protect from viruses such as COVID-19, influenza, RSV and colds.
