The Avon Maitland District School Board has a new tool it hopes will make schools safer.
The AMDSB has released a new Anonymous Reporting Tool on each school’s website for anyone to advise staff of concerns about bullying, racism and hate, and suspicion or signs of sex trafficking.
In a news release, the board says, “Staff at all levels of the organization, including the Director, Superintendents, Principals/Vice-Principals, and all other employees have received training on how to recognize, respond (immediate and long-term), report, and support students impacted and involved in bullying, racism and hate incidents and suspicion or signs of sex trafficking.”
While the reporting tool is anonymous, the AMDSB says personal information (e.g. name) will aid the school principal in fact-finding and resolving the issue.
