Northern Bruce Peninsula council is receiving the first draft of its 2023 budget today, with a proposed tax rate increase of 4.93 per cent.
In a report set to come to council on Jan. 9 by Treasurer Teresa Shearer, the proposed tax rate increase would result in an increase of about $22 per $100,000 of home assessment.
The draft budget is also proposing a number of capital projects, some of which include:
-Replacing bunker gear for firefighters
-Continuing replacing generators
-Road resurfacing
-Landscaping and laying asphalt
-Addressing Tobermory sewer and Lion’s Head water systems
-Upgrading playground equipment in Lion’s Head and Tobermory
-Tennis court resurfacing in Lion’s Head and Tobermory
-Upgrades to Lion’s Head Daycare building
-Upgrades to Tobermory Community Centre
-Addressing campground septic system
Council will be reviewing this draft at its meeting on Jan. 9 at 9 a.m.
Council will be conducting the first review of the draft budget on Jan. 16 and Jan. 30.
Council will return for the second review of the draft budget on Feb. 13, before opening up to a public presentation on March 13.
