Council was able to get some insight into shoreline hardening.
Steve Jackson from BM Ross & Associates made a presentation to council on the topic of armouring the Goderich South shoreline while providing beach nourishment from the regular dredging operation that occurs at the Maitland River.
Construction cost would be around $3 million, but the benefit would be to prevent the natural erosion of the beach.
This in turn would mean that there would be a reduced risk to homes built nearby.
The underlying purpose of beach nourishment would be to replace the sand and cobble material that would normally have eroded if the Goderich South slope were to be left unprotected.
