It made the CAA list as one of the worst roads in the province but the city of Orillia is hopeful Laclie Street will shed that distinction starting next year.
The street is pitted with patches and bumps, but work on reconstructing it is expected to begin in 2023.
Council recently approved the publication of an environmental assessment on the project — and the city hopes work can begin next year on the first phase.
It is anticipated it will take four years to reconstruct the entire street from the downtown area, all the way up to Murray Street.
