The Meaford Hospital Foundation is receiving a nearly $202,000 donation from a couple’s estate.
The foundation says the donation was made at the bequest from the estate of Helen I. Dales, who passed Sept. 22, 2021 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her husband Alan on July 14, 2018 at the age of 95.
The foundation says members gathered at the hospital to present the gift to volunteers and staff.
Estate Trustee and nephew Ian Pember says, “they were always grateful for the care and help from the health community in Meaford and were happy to be able to give back.”
The Dales were both raised in the Beaver Valley/Bognor and Clarksburg/Thornbury area and married in February, 1961.
The foundation plans the use the gift for a number of priority projects at the hospital, including renovations and future equipment purchases.
Foundation Treasurer Joelle Adelson says, “the Meaford Hospital Foundation sincerely appreciates this generous gift. We are so grateful that the Dales included us when they planned their estate.”
Grey Bruce Health Services Meaford Site Manager Graham Fry adds, not only is the hospital important to the community, the community is important to the hospital.
“Their generous gift will touch the lives of family, friends and neighbours for years to come,” says Fry.
