The Owen Sound Attack started their three-game trip on the right foot.
Cedrick Guindon scored twice and Antonio Tersigni had two assists for his first career Ontario Hockey League points, as the Attack cruised past the Barrie Colts 5-2 in OHL action Thursday night at Sadlon Arena.
The Attack (15-7-1-1) extended their points-streak to four games with the win.
Servac Petrovsky, Kaleb Lawrence and Colby Barlow also scored the Attack. Barlow’s empty-netter in the third extended his goal-scoring streak to eight-games.
Owen Sound never trailed in the game. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period.
Petrovsky got things going at 5:18 on a double deflection goal. Jame Petrovski fired a point shot into traffic that was deflected by Tersigni down towards the ice, it then banked off Petrovsky’s skate and just barely rolled over the goal line past Colts’ netminder Ben West.
Lawrence made it 2-0 two minutes later, cutting towards the net and backhanding home his own rebound.
Five minutes later Guindon forced a turnover inside the Attack blueline and was off to the races on a clean breakaway. He shot five-hole and beat West to make it 3-0 at 12:59.
Beau Jelsma got the Colts (10-8-2-1) on the board 1:33 into the second period. He was standing unmarked a few steps outside the crease and took a perfect pass from Connor Punnett and then fired it over Attack goalie Nick Chenard’s glove to cut Owen Sound’s lead to 3-1.
Guindon restored Owen Sound’s three-goal lead four minutes later, snapping home a shot from the high slot at the end of a nice passing play to make it 4-1.
At 7:10 of the second period, Zach Wigle pounced on a loose puck in the high slot and quickly wristed a shot past the glove of Chenard to bring Barrie back within two.
Barlow’s empty-netter came with 1:06 to go in regulation.
Chenard made 22 saves in the win. West stopped 30 taking the loss. The Attack outshot Barrie 35-24 while going 0 for 2 on the power play; the Colts finished 0 for 1.
