Health Canada has ordered the recall of a children’s educational toy that may contain lead “above the regulatory limits.”
In an alert issued by the agency on Friday, consumers have been asked to immediately stop using the pocket cube, Placote My First Words, sold between March and September of this year.
The product comes in a cardboard box and is accompanied by cardboard cards.
The cards are deemed safe to keep, but the soft cube toy is the subject of the recall
Exposure to lead and cadmium can lead to a range of serious health effects, including anemia, vomiting, and diarrhea.
The heavy metals can cause long-term effects on the heart and immune system, and in extreme cases, can cause death.
