A 34-year-old South Bruce Peninsula man faces several charges after allegedly resisting arrest and trying to grab a weapon from a police officer.
Grey Bruce OPP say they were called to a report of an assault on John Street in Wiarton on Sunday.
Police officers arrived on scene and placed an individual under arrest. Grey Bruce OPP say during the arrest, the suspect began to resist and one officer suffered minor injuries that were treated at a local hospital.
The accused was then transported to the Wiarton OPP station, where police allege he became uncooperative again.
Police say during the lodging process the 34-year-old man attempted to take a weapon from an officer’s duty belt.
The man was charged with several offences, including assault and disarming a peace officer.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing today in Owen Sound.
