Owen Sound’s Public Works team started their Winter Control Operations this week.
The winter control is based on a 24-hour, 7-day per week shift that will continue through the winter months, to make sure that municipal roads, walkways, and parking lots are safe for motorists and pedestrians.
The city is also sending out reminders for winter safety.
Under the city’s by-laws, residents are not allowed to put slow and ice on the roadway or sidewalk.
Children should be discouraged from playing around snowbanks because they can slip off, or even have the snowbank collapse.
When it comes to garbage and recycling, that waste and recycling containers should not be placed on roadways or sidewalks and placed so they aren’t in the way of snow clearing, or get knocked over.
The City of Owen Sound is also advising that overnight parking restrictions will be in effect from December 1st until March 31st.
