Remembrance Day ceremonies are planned for communities all over Grey Bruce Friday.
In Owen Sound, the parade will form up in a different location this year, at the Royal Bank on 2nd Avenue, instead of Metro to allow for older participants to make the walk to the cenotaph where a ceremony will be held. There will not be gunfire this year to mark the moment of silence. The service will take up to 90 minutes and there will be banquet at the legion at 2 p.m.
A ceremony will be held at the Cenotaph in Lion’s Head at 11 a.m.
In Wiarton, the ceremony will commence at 10:45 am with Parade arriving at Cenotaph at 10:55 am.
In Southampton, Branch 155 will begin with a parade forming at the legion at 10:30 and travelling to the Cenotaph for ceremonies at 11am. Also of note, the following day, November 12th a concert is set to be held at the Town Hall at 7 p.m. and will feature wartime music. Admission is by donation, which will benefit the Southampton Legion.
In Port Elgin, the Legion will be holding a service at Cenotaph Park. You can also watch the service streaming online at https://www.youtube.com/southportchurch or at https://www.facebook.com/southport.church a parade will begin from the legion at 10:30 a.m.
In Kincardine, there will be a 10:00 a.m. Remembrance Service in the Legion Hall, followed by a service at the cenotaph at 11 a.m.

The Hepworth-Shallow Lake Legion says there will be a ceremony at the Shallow Lake Cenotaph at 9:30 a.m. and another ceremony at the cenotaph in Hepworth at 11 a.m.
The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie is closing the temporary Bruce Road 3 in-town detour for the Paisley Remembrance Day service. Bruce County says the detour will be closed from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 11 to host the service at the Paisley cenotaph.
In Meaford, wreaths will be laid at the cenotaph in front of Meaford Hall at 11 a.m. Following the ceremony, Meaford Hall will host a reception and opening of the Meaford Remembers exhibit in the Galleries until 2 p.m.
The Flesherton-Markdale Legion says there will be Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Flesherton and Markdale Cenotaphs on November at 10:30 am.
In Hanover, the ceremony will start at 10:45 with a parade from the legion to the cenotaph. There will be a luncheon at the Branch following the service and tickets are available at the Branch.
In Walkerton, the legion is hosting a Remembrance Day parade and ceremony at the Walkerton Cenotaph prior to 11:00 a.m.
