It’s teen driver safety week and local police are spreading awareness about safety issues
This year’s theme focuses on the critical issue of distracted driving.
The Grey Bruce OPP have been working with the Bruce Peninsula Safe Communities Committee and stopping by local high schools.
They say drivers who text while driving are up to six times more likely to be involved in a crash.
They say the risk of a crash increases when you take your eyes and attention off the road, even just for a second. Remove the temptation by keeping your phone out of reach while driving.
Police also say, if a parent texts and drive it increases the likelihood that their kids will text and drive.
OPP say If you are a parent– if you don’t text and drive, chances are better that your kids won’t, either.
