1) Why are you running?
I am running for Mayor in the Township of Chatsworth because I care deeply about our community and Grey county. I have the experience, work ethic and skill set to responsibly represent you.
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to ease cost of living concerns? If so, what measures would you support?
Making fiscally responsible decisions and ensuring tax rates are maintained at a sustainable level. Also increasing our tax base through growth will assist our current ratepayers.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
For economic development we need to increase our industrial and commercial land base and be shovel ready for companies interested in locating in our township. At the same time ensuring our agricultural community remains strong, vibrant and supported.
4) Do you think the municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
Yes we have a role in bringing health care professionals to the area. The Township’s financial commitment to the Markdale hospital and Grey County’s continued commitment to area hospitals,as well as the million dollar contribution to Georgian college for the BscN ,all play a part in attracting health professionals. The biggest attraction is the quality of life afforded to people living in this area.
5) Should the township pursue more shared services with neighbouring municipalities?
The Township of Chatsworth currently shares services with our neighbouring municipalities. We are always exploring further opportunities to share services.
6) What issue do you believe is a top priority for Chatsworth to tackle during the next term?
Promoting growth and reducing our infrastructure deficit.
