Born and raised in Hanover i am committed to ensuring Hanover is the “place to be”. A community where young parents want to raise their children; a place where seniors want to move to; a community that leverages

creativity and culture to attract and retain people as key drivers of innovation and

economic growth; a community that endorses community based policing as the preferred police service ensuring safety for all

My experience is as principal of JDSS, chair of

Hanover and District Hospital, 4 terms as councillor for the Town of Hanover, real estate agent and fundraising chair for 3 major capital projects; the pool, medical clinic and PH centre serves me well to share and apply my knowledge and expertise in a variety of ways at the committee level and council table

i thoroughly enjoyed my last term and experienced some successes but there still some unfinished projects and work to do for the betterment of the citizens of Hanover . As always i will make every effort to ensure Hanover remains the “place to be”

In most households’ budget the largest expenditure is probably related to a rent or mortgage payment. There is no simple answer to the housing issue. A single prong approach won’t meet the needs. It requires a multi-prong approach consisting of developers, builders, other municipalities, higher tier governments working collaboratively to come up with viable solutions

The Town of Hanover has a community improvement plan (CIP) which is an effort to support new development in the municipality

and increasing attainable housing stocks

including secondary suites, multi-unit housing, purpose built rental housing, rooming house developments and apartment dormitory style developments

Another area is the town could promote the redevelopment and/or conversion of brownfield, vacant, and grey field properties;

As previously stated this is an immediate concern and requires a concerted effort from all participants who have an interest in housing

A new retention and attraction initiative by the Hanover’s Economic Development committee was developed. This new strategy is called Hanover’s Innovative People Program (HIPP) to drive the recruitment and retention of people, business and investment to the community.

It infuses creativity, culture and business with the tools to accelerate Hanover to the next level.

There are four distinct campaigns created under the HIPP umbrella.

HIPP Apprentice to retain youth in our community the Town has entered into a partnership with Launch Pad and build community apprenticeship opportunities, as well as promote the process and skills training, not only for youth, but also for employers as well.

HIPP Entrepreneur This campaign will emphasize business start ups and expansion resources for entrepreneurs offered through the Community Improvement Program (CIP) and other area resources. The purpose is to attract new creative thinkers, businesses and investment.

As a regional centre in Grey County, Hanover prides itself on being a progressive and vibrant community. A hub for services surrounded by a rural landscape, Hanover is an exciting place to live. We enjoy many recreational programs as well as ensuring a quality of life that undoubtedly will attract new employees to out vibrant town

Town of Hanover plays a supportive role in the Recruitment and Retention of Physicians

The Town gives a yearly contribution to the Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee

However accepted a significant challenge with respect to this issue. Town of Hanover stepped up and assumed the responsibility for the construction and costs of a new Medical Clinic. This clinic is ideally situated immediately adjacent to the Hanover and District Hospital. The clinic has a pod like configuration which promotes a collaborative and team approach to medical care. The clinic also houses auxiliary services such as optometry, lab services,pharmacy and hearing clinic. it also has accommodations for visiting locum doctors

YES. Most definitely!

County of Grey Growth Management Strategy by Henson in 2021 issue a report that outlined population growth, household needs and an employment forecast and land availability for the next 25 years for the municipality of Hanover.

Over the next 25 years Hanover is projected to have one of the largest growth in the County. it’s population is projected to grow by 3500 people (14% of total growth in County) with Households increase at 1700 households as well as 1500 more jobs

On the downside The same Henson Report projects a land shortage of 93 hectares (approximately 250 Acres) for Hanover to accommodate the projected growth

This is Our Dilemma!!

We are projected to grow by 14% but lack the available land to accommodate the projected growth.

Hanover is defined as one of the two primary settlements in Grey County; Owen Sound is the other. Hanover is considered by some to be the “breadbasket ” of southern Grey County. We have all the available services to make this projection a reality but we need land!

Unfortunately we have some people who are still hanging on to a “silo mentality” approach. This attitude needs to change.
