1) Why are you running?
I have spent the past 7 years volunteering on city committees including the community services committee and I’m currently a citizen volunteer on the operations committee. I made the choice to learn the job before I decided to apply for the job of city councillor. I want to be a fresh new voice helping to make the decisions that will affect our children’s future. I want to help make sure this city will be affordable for our children to be able to choose to build their lives here
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to east cost of living concerns? If so, what measures would you support?
I would support measures that would not increase the cost of living. We already have high taxes. We need to find ways to slow the increases while still delivering good services.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
There are many opportunities for economic development. Festivals and events attract tourism which helps promote the city. We need to have more positive promotion to attract people to use our beautiful city. I would support business development in the city.
4) Do you think the municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
Absolutely. I think we all have a role to play in this issue.
5) What steps could municipalities take to help get more housing built that you support?
As a woman in trades I know the importance of housing and what development can mean for the economics of a city. Development leads to good paying jobs which means more money in our local economy. I will support any steps to help us move forward with the development coming in the near future.
6) Should the city do more to regulate short-term rentals, such as AirBNBs?
Yes and enforce existing bylaws.
