1) Why are you running?
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
Councillors can keep municipal budgets low and ensure tax dollars are being spent wisely for maximum value in public services. We can cut waste and excess spending so that taxes are kept as low as possible.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
Grey Highlands’ strength is in its people, its farmland, and its natural beauty. Promoting and increasing tourism, incentivizing and supporting small business, and continuing to allow farmers to do their good work is at the heart of this municipality’s prosperity.
4) Do you think the municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
When we create a safe, vibrant, diverse, and prosperous municipality, professionals of all sorts will come and want to live here. We can specifically attract doctors and healthcare workers by continuously improving our clinics, the hospital, and our long term care facilities.
5) What would you like to see for land development in Grey Highlands?
Development is a good thing – it means economic growth and increased affordable housing – but we need to find the right balance. That means prioritizing people and the public good over profits. We need to protect our sensitive natural areas such as the Escarpment and watersheds, and also ensure prime farmland isn’t lost forever. That means developing in carefully selected areas so that we don’t ruin what makes Grey Highlands so special.
