No, you probably won’t be camping for May 2-4 this year.
Premier Doug Ford says, “That is absolutely not going to happen”.
Ford has clarified comments he made during a radio interview yesterday, suggesting that the Victoria Day long weekend might be a target date for reopening the province’s economy.
However, Ford later backtracked, insisting he wasn’t trying to imply any sort of “re-opening” date had been set for the province.
Ford said “Everything is conditional on the health and well-being of Ontario.”
He added, “There’s never going to be one date that we just open up the economy.”
Ford has said he’s been facing increasing pressure to get people back to work, especially in light of new modelling released this week that suggests Ontario is in better shape than first predicted.
The state of emergency in Ontario is in effect until May 12.
Victoria Day is May 18 this year.
